State Court Systems

Each state has a court system based on its own constitution. This unique history causes their names and structure to vary from the Alaska Court System to the West Virginia Judiciary.

State courts submit conviction and sentencing information to their state's information bureau, before it is electronically transmitted to the CJIS Division at the FBI.

If you find errors or inaccuracies in your personal criminal history, you will need to contact the state court that had jurisdiction in the arrest or conviction. You may also need to contact the state information bureau.
